In last week’s Thought4The week I mentioned that at the time of writing I was lucky enough to attend the Global Speakers 2022 Conference in Dublin.
Speakers from around the world attended and it was a pleasure to meet some new acquaintances and chat with some old friends.
Over two hundred speakers, trainers and consultants spent their time and energy sharing best practices at the conference, which was at Croke Park the home of Gaelic football. If you haven’t been it is a truly remarkable stadium and I have to say the staff were exceptional.
A speakers’ conference is always three things.
Noisy.
Hectic.
Full of new ideas.
I must confess I was amazed at how speakers have adapted during the COVID19 pandemic, not just in conference technology but in the smaller and very important ways to use the latest proven ideas.
QR Codes were prevalent for instance.
Many have adapted to a hybrid way of working, having created mini studios at their offices or at home.
Most of all they are enjoying both face-to-face and remote sessions.
And much, much more.
However, the number one thing I picked up from a long and tiring (in a good way) event was….
Enthusiasm!
Enthusiasm for the individual’s business.
Enthusiasm for the speaking and consulting market.
Enthusiasm post COVID19 (albeit the number of cases is rising fast again…)
I witnessed a lot of positive faces…
What’s the point, Peter?
Whilst it would seem every politician and news feed is desperate to sell us a doom and gloom story right now, speakers are paid to provide knowledge, information, and most of all a positive message. Very few are employed to paint terrible pictures (perhaps with the obvious exception of the press).
It struck me as a major reminder that in business we all need to get our positive face on even if life is tough inside, as no one wants to buy from a Moaning Minnie now do they…?
Get your positive face on!
Just sayin’…
BTW I have introduced a simple tip of the week by request and this quarter it is on the most important of matters in business – TRUST.
