The picture above was taken by my wife Anny whilst we were on a day trip to Aberdovey. We try and visit there two or three times a year as it’s not too long a drive (about two and a half hours) and it’s a lovely little seaside town. Plus, the beach goes on forever!
The picture was taken on a very hot day and consequently, I was wearing my baseball cap.
Now I know there is a debate about why men wear baseball caps and particularly should men over fifty do so.
Here is my point: It was sunny, and I needed to cover my head plain and simple.
I can hear you ask…is that the only reason?
Well to give an answer and a little perspective to this I was sitting with my youngest grandson a few days ago. He is five years old and has an impish smile which usually appears before doing something such as stamp on my foot then running off and laughing. This time he looked thoughtful for a minute and then said, “POPS your bald!”
And then he fell about laughing!
Well, it’s true the last couple of years have finally taken their toll and after a very good run the hair has pretty much gone.
Hence why you see me wearing a cap more often, but not for vanity simply either to keep the sun off or to stay warm as it really doesn't bother me.
What’s the point?
A five-year-old says it how it is. Children of that age have no filter and simply speak the truth.
In a world that seems determined to produce complicated sales programmes, promising the earth, for most of us at least, we want simplicity, clarity and honesty and people who provide that are in demand.
So don’t be scared to point out, just like my grandson, what is obvious.
In my case the importance of Reputation is obvious, so what are you doing to look after it?
Speaking for your business is a must-have skill, so what are you doing to be better at it?
I can help you with both and you know where I am.
Now I am off to catch my grandson for calling me bald the little monkey…
Until the next time!
Peter
